engineering field is huge, in fact, that is why there are so many products (electronics, electrical, microwave, communications, computers, etc).
what do electrical engineers do??
you should not worry much, engineering begins the same way for everyone, and then gradually find courses that are more to your liking (if they meet degree audit).
for example, the degree of engineering is 4 years;
- First year is the same for all students in electrical engineering (mechanical, chemical, physical ...)
- In the second year, there is some difference (electric guys know more electrical theory)
- 3 years is largely a thorough study of these theories,
- Year 4 is practically course you choose and define field more interested.
if you can, try to find local companies that design and build machines, visit them and see which control department. I think it will be very close if not exactly what you are after.
this is what I do for a living and I also love (the electrical system design, selected components, the size of your program while testing, operation).
things that are much control systems PLC (programmable logic controllers), servos, robots, etc which generally "integration" of the work is called type (using shelves developed by another), but occasionally I also need to design things from scratch (PCB microcontrollers and various other parts) this is what do electrical engineers do.
